Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He changed his name to Martin later on. Martin served as co - pastor from 1960 till his death on April 4, 1968. He attended segregated schools in Georgia, and graduated from high school at the age of fifteen. He received the B.A. degree in 1948 from Morehouse College, which was a distinguished Negro institution where his father and he graduated. He was elected president of a predominantly white senior class at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania. He then enrolled in graduate studies at Boston University, where he completed his residence for the doctorate in 1953 and also receiving a degree in 1955. He met and married Coretta Scott, a young woman of scarce intellectual and artistic attainments. They had their first daughter, Yolanda Denise, who was born in Montgomery, Alabama on November 17, 1955. After that they had their first son, Martin Luther III, in Montgomery, Alabama on October 23, 1957. Then they had their second son, Dexter Scott, in Atlanta, Georgia on January 30, 1961. On March 28, 1963, they had their last child which was a daughter named, Bernice Albertine, in Atlanta, Georgia.
