A Battle worth Fighting

After each journey we seek to return to the place we hold dear in our hearts, a place we can call our own, we call that place home. However during our travels we see different places, different people and sometimes we wish to stay at the place that appears to be "heaven", but Odysseus in Odyssey by Homer, travels through many different lands, but still seeks to return to Ithaca, a place where his family and memories remain, his home. But for twenty years he struggled to return home, and battled against fate to get to the place he loved most.

Odysseus traveled for ten years in search of his home, and even the God of earthquakes and sea Poseidon couldn't manage to stop him from reaching his beloved Ithaca. Throughout his journey Odysseus and his crew battled many dangerous creatures such as Cyclops, Laestrygones, Sirens, Charybdis, Scylla and even the Gods. Although these battles were dangerous and life threatening, Odysseus never gave up, and kept fighting the battle to return home.

When Odysseus washed up on Calypso's island, he was worshiped by a goddess, and her island could have been called "heaven". Nonetheless Odysseus still struggled to return to the place he truly cared about and loved, his home - Ithaca. Odysseus could have lived with Calypso and gotten everything he had ever dreamt of and immortality. More over Odysseus refused the eternal life, which was sought by many humans, but Odysseus gave up the eternal life for freedom. Freedom to go back home, even if it meant dying after few years of returning to Ithaca.

With the struggle Odysseus experienced in his journey Frodo as well in the sequel by J.R.R. Tolkien the Lord of Rings faced the same struggle to return home. Both of the heroines struggled to return home. And their struggles were caused of a mission they were assigned to. And both of their missions were to destroy something, but...
